Plastic Traders and Credit Cycles: Tracking Dues Order by Order

B2B order management

Credit keeps the plastic trade moving. Buyers expect 30, 60 or sometimes 90 days, and suppliers extend it to keep the relationship. The risk is not credit itself — it is losing track of how much each customer owes while new orders keep coming in.

How dues get out of hand

When outstanding amounts live in the accounts team’s ledger and orders are taken in the sales team’s notebook, nobody sees both at once. A customer who is already overdue can place a large new order, and it gets dispatched before anyone checks.

Putting credit next to the order

  • Set a credit limit for each customer
  • Show the outstanding balance when an order is taken
  • Hold orders above the limit for approval
  • Review the customers whose dues keep growing

With the balance visible on every order, credit decisions become a quick check instead of an argument after the goods have left.
